What Can You Contribute to the ETTC Board?
What does volunteering for a club like the ETTC do for you?
Many alumni members of the club (some surpassing 25
years as a volunteer) feel they benefit from the friendships they’ve made from supporting our growing membership, and
we too benefit from them sharing and offering advice to the club.
What does volunteering for a club like ETTC do for you?
Have your thoughts and ideas for the club become a reality. Focus events and other activities on things your family and others with twins and triplets like to do. Spend some time with families, facing or may have faced, similar joys and challenges. Many alumni members of the club (some surpassing 25 years as a volunteer) feel they benefit from the friendships they’ve made from supporting our growing membership. All of our existing Board members are extremely proud of where the club is today and we want to ensure its continued success. “As is said in Shrek, change is good!”
As this Executive looks ahead to 2010/2011, we realize that many key positions will become vacant and will need to be filled at our May 10, 2010 Annual General Meeting. We ask each of our members, their spouses and possibly their adult twins, to consider joining the Executive and to continue to build positive relationships that will enhance our club. Many positions require a minimal amount of your time and you would be surprised at how much fun we have! All executive positions are open to current members. Please consider volunteering a few hours of your time each month. If you are interested in a particular position and would like more information, do not hesitate to contact a current member of the board. Our club is made possible by the ideas and effort put forth by volunteers.
Here are some commonly asked questions to consider:
In what ways might I contribute to the ETTC Board and our club?
Different individuals may be drawn to filling
certain board positions due to personality types or skill sets.
What board position would you
enjoy doing?
How much time will be required for a specific position and can I commit to that?
Many positions require as
little as one to two hours a month.
How much time and attendance is required for the 2 monthly meetings?
Our General Meeting is often a Program
Night so most months you need to attend only the Executive Meeting which always falls on the
last Monday of the month.
What orientation or responsibilities will I have – this should be asked before and at changeover time in order to
ensure that you understand the position and what’s involved. All positions have a binder with the processes
carefully outlined on what is expected for that position so there are no surprises. Our Executive
is also very willing to help/train you.
Will I be committed to our club for the year?
Once you have been doing your position for a month or two
you can decide whether you want to put in more time or not. Most people get out of the club what
they put into it.
Think too about the rewards of being a Board member and the great support and friendships you can receive.
Our board members attend two Executive Dinners/year as we like to celebrate our accomplishments
and every year two Board Members are sent to the annual MBC conference. Nothing looks better on
a resume when you have been a stay at home Mom for awhile.
Please feel free to discuss any of the above with an Executive member.
